Heesung Catalysts Presents on Catalyst Commercialization at the 39th Catalyst Research Symposium
2026.06.29

Heesung Catalysts participated in the 39th Catalyst Research Symposium, held from June 24 to 26, 2026, at Bloomvista Hotel & Conference in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, where the company delivered a presentation on the commercialization journey of catalyst research.
Hosted by the Catalysis Division of the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers (KIChE), the symposium was organized under the theme “Changing World, Expanding Catalysis Engineering” to discuss technological challenges and future directions for catalyst applications across industries. During the event, Dr. Hodong Kim, Principal Researcher at Heesung Catalysts, presented “Lab to Plant: The Commercialization Journey of Catalyst Research.”
From Research and Development to Commercial Production
In his presentation, Dr. Kim introduced Heesung Catalysts’ technology development and commercialization experience, focusing on automotive emission control catalysts and chemical process catalysts. He also shared development cases involving dehydrogenation catalysts, illustrating how catalyst technologies progress from laboratory research to practical industrial applications.
Dr. Kim emphasized that successful catalyst commercialization requires more than achieving excellent catalytic performance. It also depends on robust process development and scalable manufacturing technologies capable of delivering consistent product quality. He highlighted that the integration of R&D, process engineering, and production technologies forms the foundation for catalyst solutions that meet the requirements of industrial applications.
Strengthening Technical Exchange for Catalyst-Based Solutions
The 39th Catalyst Research Symposium brought together experts from academia and industry to exchange insights on the latest advances in catalyst technologies and their industrial applications. Heesung Catalysts’ presentation was particularly meaningful in sharing practical experience and technical expertise gained through the commercialization of catalyst technologies, from research and development to process development and large-scale manufacturing.
Heesung Catalysts will continue to strengthen its capabilities in catalyst design, process development, and mass production technologies while expanding catalyst-based solutions that address evolving industrial needs. The company also plans to enhance collaboration with academia and industry to further promote the industrial application and commercialization of catalyst technologies.
