Dr. Ho-dong Kim of Heesung Catalysts received the 28th Catalyst Award from the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers (KIChE) on October 7, 2026, during the 2026 KIChE Fall Meeting and International Symposium held at BEXCO in Busan, South Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award recognizes his contributions to strengthening the competitiveness of Korea’s catalyst industry through the development of proprietary catalyst technologies in the petrochemical, decarbonization, and hydrogen sectors, as well as his achievements in catalyst localization and commercialization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advancing Catalyst Localization and Commercialization Through R&D<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Kim has developed proprietary catalyst technologies for the petrochemical, decarbonization, and hydrogen sectors, filing 74 patent applications in Korea and internationally. His achievements have also been recognized with the Patent Technology Award and the IR52 Jang Young Sil Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, he has contributed to establishing a foundation for domestic technological self-reliance by developing locally produced catalysts for chemical processes that previously depended on imports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His key achievements include the successful commercialization of paraffin dehydrogenation catalysts, natural gas reforming catalysts, and ammonia cracking catalysts. These catalysts have been supplied to major domestic and international companies, contributing to the competitiveness of Korea’s catalyst industry and its expansion into global markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
